    2. As far as accessing those Catholic records, since you will be in Ireland, I'd probably hold off on using the heritage centers for the time being. I've had very good luck with an advance letter to the parish priest explaining my interests and asking if I could access the registers myself when there. When I've been able to show that anyone with the surname is likely to have been part of the family, they've even allowed me to peruse the entire register looking for instances of the name amongst sponsors and the likes. It's time consuming, and I do give a generous donation, but it's probably less than what you'd be paying to the centers. Cindy

    3. I did something very similar and had success. I wrote an advance letter to the parish priest and he was waiting for my visit when I arrived. He didn't allow me to go over the records myself, but instead held the parish register and read over it looking for the names I wanted. That was in 1991 which I believe was before the records were made unavailable, but it sounds like Cindy had a more recent experience. It's worth a try. 3. The filmed parish records for Terryglass are available from the LDS site. I've just finished reading them at my local Family History Center and they are in very good shape. Only found one or two pages I couldn't read. Ellen --------------------------------- Yahoo! Mail - Helps protect you from nasty viruses.
