The two parties of insurgents whose incessant outrages keep the County of Tipperary in its present disturbed state, distinguish themselves by the names of the "Caravats" and "Shanavats". They had lately a pitched battle, about 600 a-side, at the fair of Golden; they kept up an incessant and well directed fire of musquetry for a short time, during which a number of men were killed and wounded. They openly appear in the town of Clonmel, wearing the distinguishing badges of their respective clans. The Assizes at Clonmel have already produced four executions.
