Hi Marion, If you have no success on the list, another route you might go is the registrations of army marriage registrations. These are a separate index from GRO and are, I think, at Kew in London. I had someone on one of the English genealogy newsgroups tell me about this and look up "my marriage" for me years ago. That particular marriage took place in England, but I think ALL of them make the book, regardless of where the marriage takes place, as long as he was in the army. Hi Joanne, Thank you very much for your help. I have already searched the Chaplin's reports and the marriage is not listed. I have been told that these lists are only for couples who actually were married by the army Chaplin. In my case I think the marriage of the soldier was to a local girl so it took place in her church and therefore not on the army records. I have all the available records from the regiment for John Johnston and it shows no marriage. Also the two children that they had in Ireland are also not listed on the chaplains' records although mentions a wife and children. Their second child, my g.grandmother was born whilst the regiment was in Waterford and she was baptised in the RC Holy Trinity Without church at Ballybricken but listed that the couple were living at the barracks. So now I have the long and hard task of finding the correct church. Not an easy thing to do. I presume if I can find the baptism of the mother, then all may fall into place. Hey ho. Must think of another tactic. But I appreciate your help and suggestions. Thanks again Marion -----Original Message----- From: Joanne McLean [mailto:jcmclean@sprint.ca] Sent: June 20, 2006 3:57 PM To: IRL-TIPPERARY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TIP] Mary CONNORS b. 1825/8 Hi Marion, If you have no success on the list, another route you might go is the registrations of army marriage registrations.
