I have found the name often used in some of my families, especially in my Kennedy family and in my Roche family. I have also found the name is interchangeable. Although both are used in Ireland, once my family came to the U.S. they used Edward more often than Edmond, or it might not have been "they," but perhaps the person taking the information from them. I have also read that the spelling "Edmond" was French, and "Edmund" English. I don't know if this is so or not, but I would think when the Normans settled in Ireland, the name Edmond probably was used more often. Jan [email protected]
