Andrew -- Australia is pretty far from Brooklyn! My mother's aunt (Eliza Mullally) had married a Patrick Fogarty and helped him raise his 2 sons. She never had any children of her own. I never followed up on the Fogarty line as there was no blood-line connection, but I remembered there was an Andrew ... and wondered. As far as the Finian connections go, Eliza had a brother - Thomas Mullally - who was the flag bearer for the C. J. Kickham Band. Her grandfather, Thomas Hackett delivered guns for Smith O'Brien or so the book, History of O'Mullally & Lally Clann, states. Another Mullally ancestor did go to Australia - he owned Mullally's Hotel in Blayney so perhaps some of your neighbors are my distant cousins. Well, thanks for replying and good luck in your search!
