    3. Andrew Thank you for your most informative reply re the floods & Tipperary relatives. My Heffernan family settled in Tenterfield in 1850. William was an 'exile' a pseudonym for convict, her arrived on the 'Havering' Nov 1849 transported for perjury. Among the other prisoners on board were John Heffernan Jnr. & Snr. They were transported for sheep stealing. This father & son also went to the New England settling in Uralla. John Snr eventually brought out his wife and daughters and their families. This family were from Knockavilla TIP. My William married an Ellen Lordon, no registration and had 12 children, all born in Tenterfield. I have been in contact with Father Paul Bateman and have his book 'The Heffernans from Clonbonane'. Many years ago my husband & met Tom Heffernan from Junee or Temora, he was the then President of the Shire, my husband was in Local Government at Coffs Harbour until his death. My William was baptised in Tipperary Town, as were some of his siblings, others were baptised in Anacarty/Donohill. Kerry Heffernan descended from John Snr. and I have tried to match up our Heffernan family without success. Maggie Heffernan in Port Macquarie NSW
