To the person who quiered the name MIA. According to my book, "NAMES, NICKNAMES, AND MISSPELLED NAMES" by Nancy Carlberg, the name MIA showsMary, May, Michelle, Maia, and Mya. Of course there always family nicknames that are just made up, or used because of association with an object or mispronunciation and kept because it sounded cute. My daughter Vicki is called "Bicky" because her sister couldn't pronounce the "v". She is 56 and we still call her Bicky. I hope this is of some help.
