Hello Listers I am hoping that someone out there may be able to tell me if I have any chances of knocking some bricks out of this wall. I am researching Matthew HICKEY who would have married Margaret BRADY around 1810. They had three sons James born about 1812, Patrick about 1817 and John ...no information. Patrick arrived in Australia on the ROYAL SAXON in 1841 and informs that he is from Tipperary. James arrived in Australia with wife and children on the ADELAIDE in 1845 and informs that he is from Meath. I can't find this family in Meath. That is it... as I can't find any passenger lists with Matthew Hickey, wife Margaret Hickey and son John. However... I do have a death certificate for Margaret Hickey 1873 and it records her as being in Victoria for 28 years so that would her have her arriving about 1845; this is the same time as her son James and family came out and I would have thought that she may have been on the same ship to help with the children etc. However there is no sign of her on the passenger list for the ADELAIDE. As for Matthew Hickey I am wondering if he died prior to 1845 or maybe he just stayed behind. I am guessing that I should try and find out the marriage of Matthew Hickey and Margaret Brady. Is there some kind wise researcher out there who could give me a leg up on this one or shall I take off the saddle!! Yours in hope Jenny in Australia
