I have worked with a lot of handwritten records and Michael is often written Michl. OR Ml. Abbreviations are commonly used. This could be Ml with a litte l written up above. I found a Bannon or Banon and they have it Baran. The handwriting is often hard to read. Christina Helen wrote: > Could it possibly Mic? an old abbreviation for Michael. These are the records I actually found this morning ... my Michael Rice's first son was James .... so this looks quite promising ... but some of these other children's (siblings) names are all shortened .. e.g. Patt Rice Grangegeeth, Monknewtown, Dowth, and Rathkenny Meath 10 Mar 1798 Jas Rice Nan Sulivan ============================================= Mie Rice Grangegeeth, Monknewtown, Dowth, and Rathkenny Meath 25 Oct 1799 Jas Rice Nan Sulivan ============================================= Jud Rice Grangegeeth, Monknewtown, Dowth, and Rathkenny Meath 8 Sep 1804 Jas Rice Nan Sulivan ============================================ Chr Rice Grangegeeth, Monknewtown, Dowth, and Rathkenny Meath 10 Jul 1807 Jas Rice Nan Sulivan ============================================ Catty Rice Grangegeeth, Monknewtown, Dowth, and Rathkenny Meath 3 Dec 1809 Jas Rice Nan Sulivan ============================================ Nan Rice Grangegeeth, Monknewtown, Dowth, and Rathkenny Meath 29 Nov 1812 Jas Rice Nan Sulivan ============================================ Rice Grangegeeth, Monknewtown, Dowth, and Rathkenny Meath 26 Sep 1814 Jas Rice N Sulis ============================================= Jno Rice Grangegeeth, Monknewtown, Dowth, and Rathkenny Meath 20 Sep 1814 Jas Rice Nan Sulivan ============================================= Jno Rice Grangegeeth, Monknewtown, Dowth, and Rathkenny Meath 20 Sep 1814 Jas Rice Nan Sulio ============================================= There are a couple in there I am not sure about e.g. Chr ? ... I am guessing Jud is Judith ? Catty might be Catherine ?? Any help is much appreciated :) Maree
