    3. For the time being, it appears that the Ancestry records were those that were long available via the LDS site. That particular site has always had Roscommon Catholic records posted, for instance. As well, it appears that the birth, marriage and death records that are posted are those that were freely available, via the LDS Pilot Search site and now through their regular website. These records were transcriptions of the respective registers and include the volume and page number for the entry, which would allow one to order the actual record. Please remember that records, for the most part, after 1871 also will need the quarter in which they were registered. So far, I've found no Catholic parish records for the counties I am primarily interested in, Tipperary, Clare, Limerick. For the other comments, the Irishgenealogy,ie site, which has bits of Cork, Dublin City and all of Kerry, is scheduled to go live with the remainder of Cork on 4 October. As was previously noted, the National Library is in the process of digitising their Catholic parish records to put them online for free. This will allow a line by line search of a particular parish. There are no plans to transcribe these records for the online search. CIGO, the Council of Irish Genealogical Organisations, is working with various government ministers to try and make all types of genealogy records more readily available to people overseas. -----Original Message----- From: irl-tipperary-request <irl-tipperary-request@rootsweb.com> To: irl-tipperary <irl-tipperary@rootsweb.com> Sent: Fri, Sep 23, 2011 10:55 am Subject: IRL-TIPPERARY Digest, Vol 6, Issue 131 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ELETE all extra text in the Digest Today's Topics: 1. 3. Dave, Do you have the International membership? It won't work on the US Only membership. If you scroll down on the main Ancestry page, you will see the New items. It is right there. www.ancestry.com Direct urls http://search.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=2195 http://search.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=2239 http://search.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=2240 Chris Dave Fleming wrote: > Hi Christina, Could you please give the address for these "new" records. 3. I have worked with a lot of handwritten records and Michael is often written Michl. OR Ml. Abbreviations are commonly used. This could be Ml with a litte l written up above. I found a Bannon or Banon and they have it Baran. The handwriting is often hard to read. Christina Helen wrote: > Could it possibly Mic? an old abbreviation for Michael.
