I had a photo of a castle in Ireland I wanted to I.D. It found that. So far no other great luck. It would have to be online to locate it. That is the drawback. Fun to play with it. I checked the Listowners list a couple of weeks ago and saw nothing. The same person has bounced twice, but there are a lot of AOLers who I recognize as long time list members, who are still with us. So, probably it is just a glitch with one email. I just wanted to give you all a heads up in case anything should go wrong. Ellen If you got to Rootsireland site (where you can search the index for free but have to pay to view the records) in the orth Tipperary centre there are 4 record for 4 children with parents Michael Talbot and Margaret Doyle between 1830 and 1850. you can filter these results by parish etc if you wish. It will cost 12 euros to see the actual records. I have not seen much written about this and so have just been waiting to see what happens. I read that the films would be digitized for the internet. To me that means that you can look through a film much like you do on the familysearch.org site. BUT there will be no indexing. So, my assumption is that you are on your own. I would assume if there are images, they can be saved. If something like a google book, cannot be copied, you can always grab a copy of the image from your screen using the Print Screen button on your keyboard. Then open a simple graphics program like irfanviewer or paint, hit Edit then Paste. Or just Crl-V which is paste. The image from your screen will appear and you can save it. Or you can use the snipping tool most of the newer computers have. Christina Jan Fortado wrote: > Christina, I was following the string on digitization versus transcription. Christina, I was following the string on digitization versus transcription. Do you happen to know if the parish records from the National Librarywill be actual images that we can save a copy of? Jan
Cindy Wood wrote, "the National Library is in the process of digitising their Catholic parish records to put them online for free."I was told in May that it would be some time before this happened, but I notice Cindy implies that the library is in the process ofdigitizing them, indicating the process has begun. Cindy, are you saying the library has actually begun digitizing the records? Thanks, Jan

Sue, Long time no contact. I was in Emmett last week for a visit. On the issue with the records they look suspiciously like the current offerings on the IGI and other Family Search (Mormon Church) materials. Like other records from the FHC files which have also appeared at ancestry.
