Hello Ellen, As you haven't mentioned anything, I presume there was no other information about any Hogan family? TIA Liz Walker (nee Hogan) in Sydney. Just an update. Still searching for information on Andrew Mandeville, believed to be related to the Mandevilles of Annagh Castle. He died between 1820 and 1840 and could be buried at Clonmel, Carrick or Kilsheelan. married Johanna Hays and had daughter Ann born 1820. Anyone with information about churches in Carrick or Kilsheelan? Have checked the Clonmel RC church some years ago. No record of his burial according to the parish priest. Looking for descendants of David Haskett and Mary Finucane. Have marriages of their children at the Catholic Parish of Ballina-Bohr. Mary died by 1845 as David married Johanna Cummins and had at least 6 more children have info to share with other descendants and if anyone can help it would be appreciated. Dan Walker
Hi Liz, The Hogans in question lived in Palmyra NY next door to Matt Ryan and his wife Catherine White. Darby was born in about 1861 in Tipperary I believe, no positive proof of birthplace. He is married to a woman named Mary. I am not directly related to the Hogans as far as I know at this point, but the Ryan family. Matt Ryan is buried next to Darby Hogan in Darby's family plot, and a Bridget Hogan married Andrew Ryan who was either a cousin or brother of Matt. Not having much luck with the Ryans at present, so I've moved on to relatives and neighbors. I'm wondering if the Mary Ryan searching for her brother Michael was Darby's wife Mary. Karen and Cindy, I wonder would you have a (Mary) Reynolds married to a Kennedy, with children Bridget, Catherine (who may have been deaf), John, Thomas and Ann(e) (perhaps others)? Trying to find my great grandfather's sister Mary. Do not know her husband's name. Mary and children were in NY by about 1850, in Green Island. Thank you. Sheila
Hello Cindy, It sounds like you had quite an adventure at Curreeny - I glad you didn't end up hurting yourself. I have found someone that has a few pages copied from the publication but not the actual book. She could help me with some of the Kennedys buried in the area but I don't have anything else. I am looking for the Lee family and some Kennedys but unfortunately the Kennedy I am looking for wasn't listed. If you happen to get a copy please let me know and if I happen to get one I will also certainly pass the info on. Would you like me to send you the Kennedy info I have from the booklet? sincerely, Karen Ndhockey49112@aol.com wrote: >Karen: > >One place you might try to purchase these publications is the Celtic Bookshop >in Limerick city. Does anyone on the list know of a townland called Clonahas? In 1856 an ad appeared in the Boston Pilot seeking Michael Ryan from the parish of Terryglass in Tipperary, townland of Clonahas. Karen: One place you might try to purchase these publications is the Celtic Bookshop in Limerick city. That's where I've managed to pick up a couple back issues of the Society's publications. Curreeny graveyard is really interesting, up above the road, literally on the side of a hill. I was in it a couple years ago following a rain and about wound up sliding on my keyster down to the edge of the graveyard, where it would have been about a 3 foot drop to the road. Such a dignified picture. I'm particularly interested in the Templederry graves that might be listed, so I will give my cousin, who is a member of the society a call, and see if he has the publication, or if he can run into the library and copy the pages for me. Cindy
Hello all, I have received references of a Publication printed by the Ormond Historical Society and was told by a member of the society that there are likely no copies still available to be bought as most of them went to libraries and other historic societies of the area. The publication I am looking for is the following: GRAVESTONE INSCRIPTIONS, CO. TIPPERARY Section B: Barony of Upper Ormond Compiled by Denise Foulkes Volume 9: Parish of Templederry Templederry C of I, Church & Graveyard Templederry RC Church & Grounds Curreeny Graveyard Would anybody out there happen to have a copy and might be able to do a lookup for me? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks, Karen
They could conceivably come up with an index right now, as each county Heritage Centre had the census information indexed and put on computer a number of years ago to make their searching easier and quicker. For some reason, though, that kind of cooperation doesn't seem to exist in this world, so I won't be holding my breath. As well, in my experience, "available from Dec. 2006" is also probably a lofty statement, again because of the government involvement. We could probably have the whole of Tipperary indexed and transcribed by that time and up on the web! Now, if they hired a genealogy company, such as Eneclann (not a tout, I just happen to know them!), then it might fly, but leaving it up to the government to do the work, don't be holding your breath. Cindy
Good question Mary Anne, I had assumed it would be indexed and contain all details but your query has started me thinking. Going on the current record of the government as regards computers and delivering on promises I am a tiny bit worried about the end result and when we will see it.
