On the subject of Kennedy ancestors: About a year ago we "discovered" Kennedy to be the name of our great grandfather JOHN REYNOLDS' cousins. The lot of them were born in Ireland according to both Federal and New York state censuses. All settled in GREEN ISLAND, NY and area, with some in/around Brooklyn. I have copies of marriage and baptism records from parish registers in the Ballinasloe, Loughrea, and Clonfert areas of County Galway for the REYNOLDS', but have yet to track down an origin for the Kennedys. (Thus, subscriptions to surrounding counties lists.) KENNEDYs arrived about 1850ish , and my great grandfather arrived 29 March 1882 with wife JANE ANDERSON and sons, WILLIAM, 6, JOHN JOSEPH, 4, and PATRICK, 1. Have yet to find a husband's name for MARY KENNEDY, mother of: BRIDGET KENNEDY GLYN(variations) JENNINGS, JOHN KENNEDY, CATHERINE KENNEDY (who may have been deaf), THOMAS KENNEDY, ANN (possibly Hanora) KENNEDY. (Correct birth order unknown) Just a hunch that mother, MARY KENNEDY must have been the sister of SIMON REYNOLDS (who also settled in Green Island, NY), MARGARET REYNOLDS,married name unknown, who lived in England, MICHAEL REYNOLDS who stayed in Ireland and died possibly around the 1860s, and MARTIN REYNOLDS, believed to be my great great grandfather. Kind regards, Sheila
Gail and Jack, I have Patrick (b. 1835)and Catherine (b. 1841) Kennedy, also from Tipperary, who lived in Manchester, England in the 1860's. Their children were Elizabeth (Ireland 1858), Bridget (Ireland 1859), James (Eng. 1860), John (Eng. 1862), Catherine (Eng. 1864), William (Eng. 1866) and Maria (NYC in 1875) Although Kennedy is a common name, I thought I'd take a chance that something might sound familiar. I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. I just had a kind email from a member from one of my lists, who is no longer up to researching. He just wanted to wish me a Merry Christmas and to say that without the help he had received from other researchers he would not have gotten as far as he has. I was very touched by his email. It seems to me that this is what the lists are all about - helping others as we pursue our own research. I hope you all have a Happy Christmas filled with happy memories. It appears that my wife's ancestor, Maurice Lonergan, may have had a couple of brothers who went to Austrlia. Here are the brothers: William Lonergan, born ca1822 in Newcastle, Co. Tipperary, Ireland to John and Bridget Lonergan. He married Julia in Newcastle. He went to Australia in 1856. James Lonergan, already in Ipswich, Australia in 1856. See any connections? Thanks, Jerry Franck
Any records of Kilpatrick Cemetary? Still seeking info. on Edward Reilly and family 1800's onwards, based in or near Annacarty. Best regards to all for Christmas. Kath kathb@xtra.co.nz 2005-12-13

Hello Ellen, Thank you for your very prompt reply. I know nothing of my Denis Hogan b. ca 1811 "Tipperary", apart from the ship's indent when he came here in 1834 as a convict. Once Denis is here, I can track him through his convict life, marriage, children and his death. However, on no document does he give the names of his parents or from where in Tipperary he came!...........so, I sort of clutch at straws and hope that one day someone, somewhere in the world will look for a Denis Hogan who fits my 2x gt. grandfather. Good luck with your searches. Liz in balmy Sydney. At 11:52 PM 11/12/2005, you wrote: >Hi Liz, The Hogans in question lived in Palmyra NY next door to Matt Ryan >and his wife Catherine White. Thank you for responding, Karen. I have to ask when I see "my" surnames, just in case... Best wishes in your search, Sheila
