Hi Can anyone recommend someone who undertakes genealogical research in the Tipperary area. Regards Andrew Patterson Buckinghamshire, England
Hi Peter, The Hunt you mentioned. Was he by any chance Henry Hunt, known as "The Orator" and radical political reformer, who inadvertently started off the Peterloo Massacre? From memory he did "visit" the Tower for a spell! (Without the Axe treatment) Best wishes, Inga ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter" <paircfada@eircom.net> To: <IRL-TIPPERARY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 11, 2006 9:57 PM Subject: Re: [TIP] Henry HUNT / Elizabeth BELTON The Cappawhite Hunts together with the Christian names Vere and Fitzmaurice all tie in with mine. The original of these Hunts came from Essex in England, he might have been fleeing, because he had managed to annoy his distant relations the De Vere's and a large proportion of the British establishment, which meant that a stay in the Tower of London was looking likely unless he moved. You should be hearing soon from Ros in Australia.
I would be most appreciative of a look up if anyone has the index CD for wills from the Cashel/Emly area? O'Malley is the name we are looking for. Question-if a name appears in the index and you would like more information where do you find it? Any suggestions appeciated. I am against a brick wall! Thank you.... Debbie

Thank you Peter for your information and for passing on my message to Australia. One of Henry Hunt's grandsons Cecil Henry Hunt, went to Australia in 1924. A son of Cecil Hunt, Trevor Hunt and a granddaughtet Marcia Miller are also trying to track their ancestor down, but so far without luck. Do you by any chance have 3 Henry Hunts in succession among the 15 Hunts? I found a Griffith Val. (1851) from Toem civil Parish, Town of Cappagwhite, Kilnamanagh Barony, listing: Henry Hunt senior & Henry Hunt Junior renting property from De Vere Hunt. It sounded promising specially as they are possibly related to De Vere Hunt! Unfortunately the records from Cappagwhite Town were destroyed. Having looked at LDS's records there seems to be several De Vere Hunts. One, who went to Canada with all his children and another, who stayed in Ireland. Is this correct? Another small Clue is that "our" Henry Hunt named his 3rd son William Fitzmaurice Hunt.( Fitzmaurice a name associated with the Hunts) According to family lore our Hunts were Huguenots having fled France after the Massacre in 1572. With Kind regards Inga. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter" <paircfada@eircom.net> To: <IRL-TIPPERARY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 11, 2006 10:55 AM Subject: Re: [TIP] Henry HUNT / Elizabeth BELTON Inga, A quick look through my Hunt family records has produced 15 Henry Hunts, the majority born somewhere in either Tipperary or Limerick. Hello Listers, I am new to the List and I live in New Zealand outside Wellington. My husbands GGrandfather Henry HUNT was born in Tipperary about 1849 according to the Dublin Census of 1911. His father and his grandfather were also Henry HUNT, we think! In 1873 he married Elizabeth BELTON (Born Queens Co 1855) in Dublin. They were Church of Ireland. He was a Barrister at Law in Dublin. His address in 1911 was 11, Fitzwilliam Place, Dublin city. He died in 1918. Last address of "The Dublin Hunts" we know of is "Shrewsbury Road" (Dublin) I am trying to find out where in Tipperary he was born and would be most grateful if somebody can help me in my search. Kind regards Inga.
When it comes to the HUNT family, my eyes and ears always perk up! I'm always trying to tie in with them to find out if MARY WEBB, born in 1824 in Ballyhay, Cork to ARABELLA HUNT & WILLIAM WEBB is an ancestor of mine. Would make it so much easier (genealogically speaking) to expand on my family tree. My Mary ended up married to a THOMAS WELLS KINGSLEY in Borrisoleigh, Tipperary in 1849. They were Church of Ireland folk. If anyone can enlighten me, I certainly would appreciate hearing from them. Cheers, Heidi
