Hi all, I am trying to trace the families of John Cooney and Honoria Strap in Tipperary. We know that John was born C1799 and married Honoria on 23rd February 1824 in Boherlahan, Tipperary. Honoria was born C 1835 in Camus, Galway. The children of this couple were: - Thomas, bap: 13th October 1827, Cashel. - Mary, b:C1828; married William Heaney. - Patrick, bap: 10th June 1829, Cashel. - Bridget, b: Oct 1831. - Honora "Annie", bap: 11th April 1833, Cashel. - Judy, bap: 8th Feb 1836, Cashel. - Margaret, bap 23rd May 1840, Cashel. - Catherine, b: C 1841. John with children Thomas, Patrick and Catherine came to Australia in 1857 and Bridget and Mary came out separately, Bridget arriving in 1856. There is no record of Honoria coming to Australia so it is believed that she had died in Ireland. Thomas and Patrick were literate, but John and Catherine weren't. Honoria had siblings: - John Strapp. - William Strapp who married Eileen Cody in 1815, Boherlahan, Tipperary. Could anyone give me information about what resources might be available to help trace this family in Tipperary and Galway?? Regards, Andrea, In Melbourne, Australia
Thank you Chris. I have Firefox on my hard drives, but haven't recently used it. Perhaps I should dust it off and give it another go. Thanks again. I have found a nice use for the those pages with those RSS graphics. Especially for Rootsweb lists. If you have a Firefox browser (or Opera) you can add a "Live Feed" bookmark and quickly check what is going on with your favorite Rootsweb lists. This link explains better than I can how to recognize and add a Live Bookmark. http://www.nppa.org/news_and_events/news/atom.html To add a "live feed" bookmark for a list or lists go to: http://lists.rootsweb.com/ Drill down to find the right lists. Example Ireland>IRL-Tipperary. Now click on "Browse the IRL-Tipperary Archives" (or IRL-Longford etc.) This page will have the "Live Feed" symbol in the address bar or lower right hand corner if you have an older version of Firefox. Click on the "Live Feed" symbol and you will get a message that a you are adding a Bookmark to your Bookmarks Toolbar. **Make sure that your bookmarks Toolbar is enabled. You can do this under "View" on the menu bar. You can add all your favorite Rootsweb lists to the menu. [Even those you don't subscribe to.] You can quickly click on your bookmarks to see what topics are being discussed which might be of interest. Of course, you have to be a subscriber to join in on any discussions, but you can keep track of a lot of your favorite lists this way. You can also add you favorite Yahoo lists in the same way. I hope some of you find this helpful. I know it doesn't help Explorer users. Sorry. Chris

Greetings from Australia, I have been searching for details of my gg grandfather WILLIAM TALBOT who came to Australia ca 1865. Details I have are: He was born around 1845 and his parents are said to be Michael Talbot and Margaret Doyle. He married Catherine Creedon in Sydney at St Mary's Cathedral on 25th Sept. 1871 and they had 10 children. Three died as babies. The surviving children were named Michael James, Albert. Thomas, Joseph , Winifred, Patrick and Bernard William died on 23rd November 1912 in Sydney aged 75 years. I would be grateful for any information as to where to look for my search for his arrival date(presumably Sydney) & the name of the ship.......Of course I do not know from which port in Ireland he came! Thank you for reading this, Ellen in Tasmania

Hi Phil, I did not email a commission, but rather an enquiry on 9 April and I had a detailed informative and friendly reply on 13 April. This was the email address I used for the original request was: research@tfhr.org It might pay for your relative to check he has everything in the email address correct. The reply came from: Pat@tipperary-excel.com Hope this may help. Barb, Maybe you've looked at this before, but there are Walls and Mullanys (of various spellings) listed in LuAnn DeVries's online cemetery listing ( http://www.geocities.com/luanndevries/CAHIR.html ) Not Cashel, but in the region and one never knows how families migrated around back then. Hi Geralyn, Both my Buckley relative and I have commissioned numerous TFHR searches with good results and that is why we are concerned by their lack of a timely confirmation or reply to inquiries about search status. However, thank you for your input. I'm sure other List members will benefit from hearing about your experience with TFHR. I have commissioned many searches from TFHR via email during the past two years. They have always replied to my initial requests promptly, asking for clarification on any things that were not clear to them. After the initial prompt reply, a request joins the queue. It might take a month or more for the results. My last request to them was on 27 Feb 2006. I received a reply from them the following day, acknowledging receipt of my request and stating there was a 4 to 6 week wait, because they were just beginning their busiest part of the year (March to September). I was therefore very happy to receive an email on 15 March 2006 with the results of their research (as Word attachments). I consider that very prompt indeed! I do not know about any problems that might have arisen since then. However, I can say that all my recent interactions with them have been prompt and courteous.
