Benjamin ENGLAND and Catherine BANNON married in Bonagortbaun in 1841. They had 3 daughters: Margaret, b. 1842; Ellen, b. 1844; and Catherine, b. 1846. Benjamin most likely died in late 1840s and Catherine and girls went to Orpington, Kent. Ellen later emigrated to New Jersey. The family was catholic at the time of the children's births but by the time they lived in England they had converted to C of E. Veronica
I have found the name often used in some of my families, especially in my Kennedy family and in my Roche family. I have also found the name is interchangeable. Although both are used in Ireland, once my family came to the U.S. they used Edward more often than Edmond, or it might not have been "they," but perhaps the person taking the information from them. I have also read that the spelling "Edmond" was French, and "Edmund" English. I don't know if this is so or not, but I would think when the Normans settled in Ireland, the name Edmond probably was used more often. Jan [email protected]

Hi all , I have Margaret Reardon Married Thomas Kelly as it is spelt by a scribe from the Carrick- on Suir area or Ballynealle the Kelly's came from Fetherd Ned Kelly's territory .I believe there to be a relationship here to Ned's father Red Kelly. We can not conduct a D.N .A re the Kelly line here in Australia because a Y chromosome carried by a male can not be found. Mary Kelly daughter of the above absconded with James Comerford to Australia 1840. Before they left Ireland I have found a baptism for a child to them Illegitimate Bartholomew in St Mary's church Ballyneale Happy to participate in any DNA. Laraine in Oz >
Siblings Martin Hayden (b. 1830) and Margaret Hayden (b. 1823), possibly more--Laurence???. Don't know their birthplace or parents. Martin Hayden married Margaret Turner (daughter of Nathaniel Turner) on 11 Feb 1857 at Mountshannon, Coolderaugh, County Clare. Not all children known. Definitely Michael Arthur (b.18 April 1866 at Castle Street, Nenagh, Roman Catholic, baptismal sponsors Nathaniel Turner and Johanna Tumpane) and Johanna Mary (b.2 Sep 1859 at Nenagh, Roman Catholic, baptismal sponsors John Tumpane and Fanny). Also a Josephine born about 1864-1865. Martin Hayden is at 15 Castle St. in 1856 Slater's Directory, spirit dealer and grocer. Eventually moves family to Ballinasloe, County Galway, where he dies in March 1871. Margaret, and then her daughter, Josephine (appears to be a different woman than Johanna) operate Hayden's hotel on Dunlo St. there from at least the mid 1890s. Son Michael Arthur marries Margaret Mary Connell (daughter of Martin Connell and Mary Flynn) and has three children: Margaret Mary Pauline 1907, Martin Cecil Arthur 1908, and Dermot Joseph 1912. Margaret Turner Hayden dies 6 May 1899 at Ballinasloe. Margaret Hayden (sister to Martin) married John William Tumpane. Had at least five children: Daniel (baptized 26 Jan 1848, sponsors Martin Hayden and Johanna Tumpane), Johanna (baptized 23 Feb 1849, sponsors Laurence Hayden and Kate Tumpane) William Patrick, Christiana, and Kate. Margaret Hayden Tumpane died at Nenagh on 25 Jan 1874. Some Tumpanes went to Australia, and I believe some may have gone to the US. They also were Roman Catholic. Any ideas for further research or additional information appreciated! Thanks! Joni Vella _________________________________________________________________ Your E-mail and More On-the-Go.
