Thanks Helen, This is exactly what I wanted to know - does Bru Boru have records that Waterford does not have and vice versa. You have answered that. I will see what I have to do to check on the records of Bru Boru. There are two of 13 children that Waterford apparently did not have the church records for. I do have information for the other 11 children, however. And I was able to obtain copies of the pages from the original church records from the parish priest who was kind enough to let us see the books in their possession. Thanks again, Sandy On 9/14/2011 4:53 AM, Helen wrote: > Sandy, List, > > I found records at Bru Boru that Waterford did not have. Sandy, List, I found records at Bru Boru that Waterford did not have. The births of a couple of children and a few marriage records to be specific. I did a few full family research projects with Waterford. When a few of the marriages weren't found I decided to take a chance and look in Tipp. Luckily all my missing records were found. I'm not sure why some of the records were found in Waterford and others at Bru Boru. All my missing records involved towns in the southern most regions of Tipp. I also looked for the records Waterford sent at the Bru Boru Centre and they were not there. My advice to anybody whose family is from this area is to look in both places now that Waterford is coming online. Hi Pat, Thanks you for all the hard work you have put into this. You mentioned you were about finished except for the parish of Drangan. I have been lookin g for the Parish of Baptistgrange, but haven't found it. I'm sort of confused with these parishes, districts and townlands. I have been searching for Patrick Carroll who was in the GV in the Parish of Baptistgrange, Barony , Middlethird, Townland, Milltownbritton, Electoral Division, Kiltynan, Sub district,Lisronagh, Poor Law Union, Clonmel and Parliment District , East Tipperary. Did these Parish names change between Tithes and GV? Thanks Carol Sherer betweenmessage dated 9/13/2011 4:25:17 P.M. Hi, Does anyone know if the records for the towns in Tipperary that border Waterford are the same in the Bru Boru Centre as in the Waterford Heritage Center? I received some records of my Newcastle, Aughvanlomaun Townland, Co Tippeary ancestors from the Waterford Heritage Center, but have never visited or tried the Bru Boru Centre. Thanks, Sandy
I have just added the tithe applotment indexes for the following civil parishes to the County Tipperary section of my website: Rahelty-North Riding Ballymackey-North Riding Railstown-South Riding I am a bit frustrated. When I finish the tithes for all the civil parishes in a Barony, I index the barony for easier searching. Well, I have almost finished the Middlethird Barony in the South Riding except for Dangan Civil Parish. This parish is not in the normally alphabetical place on the Family History Library films and I think it is tucked within another parish. I am wondering if anyone has found it on a FHL film. If so, could you email me and give me the film number, please. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
Thanks Helen for the update; I have made use of this site many times and was also waiting for Waterford to come on board. -----Original Message----- From: Helen <hdipilato@comcast.net> To: waterford <waterford@rootsweb.com>; irl-tipperary <irl-tipperary@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tue, Sep 13, 2011 1:55 am Subject: [IRL-TIP] Waterford records online List, Waterford is joining the list of counties on the IFHF site. The records will be available by the end of September according to the site. This is a pay per view site. If you play with site you can get good value. It takes time and ingenuity to narrow down areas, names etc. I've included Tipp. in this message as 2 branches of my family lived on border towns and some of the records were found at the Bru Boru Centre while the rest of the same family was held by Waterford Heritage Centre. The records were for the town of Clogheen which was part of the RC diocese of Lismore. I think Waterford holds a great many RC Tipp. records for the diocese of Lismore. I'm very happy that Waterford is finally making records available. Hopefully they will allow the advanced search which would really be helpful. Ellen There is also a marriage record showing for Michael Talbot and Margaret Doyle between 1825 and 1835 - a word of caution often parish marriages have very little information apart from bride and groom names and witnesses. It is rare for RC marriage records especially in the earlier records to record father's names - usually you only find these on civil reg. marriages after 1865 for RC's However some parishes may include more information. Ellen Its some time since your post but I just checked the rootsireland site http://tipperarynorth.rootsireland.ie/quis.php?page=0&prevStartQuery=0 and there are two baptismal entries for children with surname Talbot and parents Michael Talbot and Margaret Doyle between 1835 and 1845. One of the entries is for a William. You can search this site for free but to view the two records will cost Eu 8. It is possible but not certain this is the family you are looking for. Greetings All, I am "revisiting" these ancestors in the hope of finding more information. Michael Talbot and wife Margaret Doyle are my gg grandparents. They had (at least) one son William who came to NSW as a crew member (A boatswain) on the "Hyppolyta" in 1868 aged 23. William married Catherine Creedon in Sydney in 1871 On Williams marriage certificate it is stated that Michael was from Co Tipperary Any suggestions as to how I may"find" a marriage certificate and or/ other siblings of Michael and Margaret I would be grateful for any suggestions , guidance or hints as to how I may obtain more information.. Cheers, Ellen in Tasmania
Hi Ellen, The information I have on the Talbots is from much earlier than your Michael’s time but a Benjamin Talbot of King’s County, whose sister Margaret married into my Kingsley family, did lease lands - for a term of three lifetimes - in Tipperary in 1710 (Memorial no. 5008 on FHL film #461307) and possibly Michael is somewhere in this line. Have you seen the many Talbot pedigrees, will abstracts, etc. listed in the MS collection of the Genealogical Office at NLI (Consolidated Index to the Records of the Genealogical Office by Virginia Wade McAnlis, on-line at NLI)? One from this area: MS 292-298 Betham Sketch Pedigrees Series 2, VII, p.1 [Talbot] of Cloughjordan, Kings Co. Sorry I don't have anything from later dates to offer. Carole PS: A number of my Kingsleys migrated to Tasmania during the nineteenth century. Did your Talbots go there too? --- On Wed, 8/24/11, Ellen Crehan <ecrehan@bigpond.net.au> wrote: > > Michael Talbot and wife Margaret Doyle are my gg > grandparents. > > > I would be grateful for any suggestions , guidance or hints > as to how I may obtain more information.. > >
This month, I have added extracts of names, dates and locations from 700 more US emergency passport applications and from 177 'Irish in England' documents. I select the documents with people having a connection to Ireland. The documents were filed in the American consulate records for Liverpool and Newcastle upon Tyne. The site is at http://sites.google.com/site/irishgleanings/ These records exist for only a small number of Irish people and only for limited years. Use the search function of the web browser to locate names and places. If you don't find your ancestor, search for their brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles or cousins. Hope this helps your search. Good morning: My understanding is that John HACKETT and Alice MARNELL arrived in Mullinahone from _____ shortly before the 1821 birth of their son, John, who was christened in Mullinahone. In the 1830's, John Hackett began leasing land in Mullinahone -- Compsey Cottage, Priest's Garden, etc. My Thomas Hackett is buried with these Hackett's in St. Michael's Cemetery, Mullinahone. I am trying to establish whether or not Thomas Hackett is the son of John Hackett and Alice Marnell. Thomas Hackett had at least 3 children, John, Maria, and Patrick - all born circa 1840's in Mullinahone. Thank you. Kathy Sheehy
