    3. Hello, my name is Marge and I live in the Midwest of the USA. My grandmother was an Irwin from County Armagh and her mother was a Grier/Greer. In my grandparents' marriage license and my grandmother's death certificate in (both in Scotland), my great-grandmother's surname is spelled GRIER. However, when I searched for her (my great-grandmother's) birth entry in County Armagh (through the microfilms of the Family History Center) in the year the 1911 Irish Census record states she was born, I found entries for 2 different Mary GREERs born the same year in County Armagh. How will I know (1) which is my great-grandmother and (2) which is the correct spelling of her surname? It appears to me that in Ireland, her name was GREER but when she crossed the water to Scotland, her name was spelled GRIER. Can someone help me out here, please? Thanks, Marge Vallazza:)
