Dear List, A happy St Patricks Day to all list members, and to all of Irish descent, wherever you may be !! I am interested to hear from anyone researching any of the following names or derivations thereof: EGAR/EGARS EGER/EGERS EGGAR/EGGARS/EGGER/EGGERS EAGAR/EAGARS/EAGER/EAGERS My question is: are these names all derivations of the one surname (and if so, which is the right one ?), or are they all seperate surnames ? Are theses surnames distinctly Irish in origin, or are they names of people who migrated to Ireland from England and Europe ? I am researching the family of my g-g-g grandfather Paul CUDMORE EGGERS, who lived in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary c1825-1877. We think he was born in Limerick c1790, his parents being ARNOLD EGARS/EGGERS and Elizabeth CUDMORE. One theory is the Arnold EGGERS ancestors were Dutch, coming over with William of Orange, however, I also gather that the names EGAR/EGARS were at one time concentrated in Co. Kerry. To confuse the issue, I have seen the EGGERS name variously spelt as EGAR, EGARS, EGGAR, EGGARS. I would welcome input from anybody researching any of these names, but I would also greatly appreciate any information that my fellow list members may be able to provide. Thank you, Nick Batley Sydney, Australia ###################################################################### This e-mail message has been scanned and cleared by MailMarshal http://www.marshalsoftware.com ######################################################################
