    3. To List Members, I wonder if someone can help me. I have a letter dated September 1906 from France that gives the following information, unfortunately I do not know exactly where it is referring to in England. Extract of letter:- The death of Donald Harry John, Earl of STEWART (possibly House of Stewart) made our Uncle head of the family SIR Hugh STEWART, BARONET possesses the name and the title. Nowadays Donald STEWART (1st cousin to our mother ... Anna Maria STEWART VERON born in Dublin) is the English hero, they have built him a monument in the Cathedral of St Patricks. Does this ring any bells with anyone? Before I can lookup a lot of places I need a town or even Country to start with. I know they talk of their history and ancestors in Ireland and England. I am really stuck on this and would appreciate some help. Regards Kay Veron Australia veron@camtech.net.au Researching World Wide: United Kingdom ... BURT / WYTCH / MOUNTJOY / PRICE France ... I believe at Donald's death it made Hugh STEWART ... Sir Hugh STEWART. I think Hugh's father was either Donald or some other relation - STEWART. I am hoping I am right in believing that Hugh Stewart was married to Elisabeth Marianniessa NEWBERGH. From this marriage I think they had a daughter Anna Maria STEWART b: 16 Sep 1824 at Saint Mary in Dublin, Ireland. Thank you for your time, I would appreciate any information you can give me. 3. or....ROCHEFORD or RACHFORD or RATCHFORD Take your pick! My family is from Kilkenny, Ireland. They sailed to the states pre 1850 and are found in the 1850 census of Kenton Co, Kentucky. They bounce between Kenton and Pendleton, KY until the early 1900s when they all seem to scatter to nearby states. Just thought I'd take the chance that all my Ratchford (internet) cousins were lurking on this list! jamie in california

    1. [IRL-SURNAMES] STEWART / NEWBERGH
    2. Ascot Investment & Management Pty Ltd
    3. Hi, I am new to this list and wonder if anyone can tell me anything at all about the names and origins of STEWART and NEWBERGH. Newbergh sounds to me to be French and if so was it common for travel between Ireland and France? I have I believe a marriage between the two names probably 1820's, and at least one child born in Dublin, Ireland in 1824. I guess this would put the parents dates of birth probably late 1790's. I also believe STEWART was possible an Irish Rector. Any information anyone can help me with will be gratefully received. Thank you Kay Veron Australia veron@camtech.net.au

    1. [IRL-SURNAMES] Re: FLANAGAN; COYLE
    2. pam
    3. The names FLANAGAN and COYLE appear in my maternal line. William FLANAGAN married Catherine COYLE on November 24, 1835 at Christchurch Greyfriars Newgate. According to the 1841 census both William and Catherine's ages were given as 25 years and both came from Ireland. By 1841 they had had 3 children, William, Margaret and Emma. On this census William's occupation was given as Artisan and on his daughter Emma's birth certifcate as silversmith. A check with the Goldsmith Guild has indicated a William Flanagan, but whether it is the correct person or not remains a mystery. The 1841 census also lists a Margaret Coyle again aged 25 (this was the time of the + and - age) with a Thomas Coyle, aged 10 living further down the street. Does anyone have a missing Flanagan or Coyle in their family line Thanks - Pamela

    2. pam
    3. Seeking information on Peter O'BRIEN and Bridget GARVEY. Peter and Bridget were married at St. Brides, Fleet Street. London on February 5, 1835. They appear to have had at least one son, also named Peter. Peter O'B the father was listed as a gardener on his son's marriage certificate in 1859, but have been unable to find a birth certificate for P O'B (son) listing a father named Peter or a gardener. All my research so far has shown very few Irish Peter O'Briens, am I perhaps looking in the wrong country - could it be Scottish? Any thoughts much appreciated -Pamela
