I am researching into Carterton's Early Settlers, where they came from in their home country, actual village, not nearest town, one I have says Gray. Dalefield.Rosscommon, can someone PLEASE oblige, where or what was or is Dalefield. It has intriqued me for years, we have an area near Carterton, called Dalefield. It was named in late 1800s by Richard Fairbrother, his wife Winifred Conboy came from Eire. Perhaps this name means something in Lovely Ireland, I have been there, many times, used to live in London. Our Dalefield, has a Dairy Company started in 1880s. now defunct. but the area still called the same. I will quote Carterton Districts Historical Society's web page which will explain as to what this secretary is up too! http://www.com/carterton_historical_society/ Look forward to hearing from one and all, Adele. Many thanks. ps any Pentony's out there!!! Carterton is situated on the Lower North Island of New Zealand, towards the East! about 60 miles from Wellington. The Wairarapa is the region. Tararua ranges to the west. Lovely area!!!
