Dear Listers / Subscribers, I am currently researching my own family (CORR), and would of course greatly appreciate any helpful info .... My Grandfather George Joseph CORR was born in Corglass, Co Longford of George CORR - a farmer of Co. Longford. (Is he related to/ brother of Charles Corr and Bridget Masterson of Corglass, Co Longford ?) He married my grandmother Teresa DALY on the 27th September 1897 in the RC Chapel of Aughamore in the District of Kilkelly, Union of Swineford in the County of Mayo. Teresa was the daughter of John DALY and Bridget (Loughna, I believe), and was born in Keadue, Peyton (near the town of BOYLE) in Co. Roscommon. I am not totally sure when she was born, I think around 1875-78. She died 22nd June, 1906 and is buried in Knock Cemetery, Co Mayo. It is very difficult to actually make out her age on her gravestone, as it was damaged and has been repaired - but it looks like she was in her (late) twenties when she died. Her daughter, my aunt, Theresa Leyden nee CORR is buried at Kitimagh Cemetery, interred by her uncle Bishop DALY. It strikes me as odd that neither of my grandparents were actually married in their own parish; George - a sergeant major in the British Army was stationed at Ennis, Co Clare, and Teresa was from Keadue, Co Roscommon - where they returned to live and raise their family - my father and aunts. I have all these details from the copy of their marriage cerificate; Teresa's Aunt (Theresa Loughna) was a witness, and she was married to Phillip CORR - George's brother ? I do not have any other details, and would greatly appreciate another kick start in the right direction. I do not know what happened to my grandfather, after my grandmother's death. I do not know when he was born, or when or where he died. I hope to look up his details of Army Service at Kew Gardens soon, but if anyone has details of the CORRs from LONGFORD/MAYO/ROSCOMMON and/or the DALYs of ROSCOMMON (and New York) it would be greatly appreciated. many thanks Niall Corr * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This message is confidential.
