Mr. Burke was born in County Roscommon, Ireland, about 1825; he emigrated to America in 1847, and located in Chester Co., Penn.; he came to Clinton Co. in 1850, settling in Center Township, Sec. 6; he purchased his present farm in March, 1869. He married Mary Prendergast, born in Canada, of Irish parentage; have twelve children, five sons and seven daughters; have lost two children.
