Hi there list, I am back after several months' absence. Would anyone have any historical information on life in Roscommon around 1800-1830 or so? My g.g.grandmother, BRIDGET McNAMARA RILEY left Roscommon in 1835 on the Duchess of Northumberland as a young, single woman on her own, for a new life in Australia. I have no information regarding her origins, don't know her Mum or Dad's names or exactly where in Roscommon she came from. I'd like, at least, to know what her previous life might have been like, what kind of clothes she wore, etc. and what experiences might have led her to get on that ship. Any suggestions as to background reading I might do? TIA Leone
