Greetings from the Land o' the Maple Leaf! I am repeating this message which I first sent to the list in November 2001 The details I have are from Army Records: James JARRETT, married 24th January 1845 at Boyle County, Roscommon, Ireland. James was with the 38th Foot Regiment. His bride's name was Mary but I have been unable to find a marriage for him in the Civil Registration [Ireland] and don't know Mary's surname. They had a son: Thomas JARRETT born in the Parish of Foxford, Co Mayo, Ireland on 31 July 1849. Very likely an older child, James Edward JARRETT was born to them in Ireland, too. James JARRETT was my 2Xg-grandfather, Thomas JARRETT my g-grandfather. Would so love to find Mary's name and whether she was Irish or an English soldier's daughter. Thomas JARRETT died 14 Jul 1915 in Northwich, England Mary, wife of James died 7 August 1875. Whereabouts unknown. Death date for James unknown but after 1891. Possibly Oswestry or Shrewsbury areas of England. Grateful for any help/ideas. Best wishes, Diana-in-Canada
