    1. [IRL-Roscommon] Bridget Keavy of Parish of Oran
    2. Noelene
    3. Hello to All, Can I ask for some help - any help at all would be appreciated - on information re my ancestor BRIDGET KEAVEY. She appeared before the Roscommon Quarter Session on 27th June 1850 charged with larceny of 5 dead ducks , which were originally thought to have been the property of John Kean/Kane but then found to be the property of Connor Greavey or McGreevy. Her age was recorded as 23 (i.e. born 1827) she was catholic and single. Other details recorded on her convict indent are that she had brothers David, John and Patrick and a sister Mary. She came from the townland of Faraher in the parish of Oran where the family name is spelled Keary - Karey - Keavey - Keavney. William Grey, a policeman gave evidence against her. At the time of her death in Victoria Australia in 1905 her daughter recorded that her mother's parent's names were Frank Featherstone and Kate Keavy so perhaps Bridget was the child of unmarried Kate Keavy or perhaps Kate's marriage to Frank Feathersone was her 2nd marriage and she was previously Mrs. Kate Keavy. I wonder if there is anyone in the parish of Oran who can suggest how to find the birth registrations/baptisms for the Keavy family. Kind Regards from Noelene who found out just a few months ago that she lives just 2 doors from the cemetery where Bridget Keavy now rests.
