If you fly in at Shannon, you can get a bus to Limerick City and then another bus to Ratheale. Austin Bovenizer offers a Palatine cottage for rental by the week. It is only about a kilometer from the bus stop. The town is very friendly. If you are up to walking about 3 or 4 kilometers, you can stay at the cottage and walk to town to shop. There is also a nice hotel in town and other B&Bs. For those of you flying locally, Kerry Airport is very convenient to Rathkeale and you can rent a car there.
