    1. Re: [IP] Spirit Walk
    2. I would like to add a little bit of information about Barbara Heck. Barbara Ruckle was born in Ireland. She was the daughter of Sebastian Ruckel and the grand daughter of Casper Ruckel. She left Ireland on the ship "Pery" with her husband Paul Heck and her cousin Philip Embury and his wife Margaret Switzer and other family members and friends in 1760 enroute to New York. In 1766 Barbara persuaded Philip Embury to preach after she found some of her countrymen playing a game of cards. She was responsible for helping to form the first Methodist Church in America and has been called the "Mother of Methodism". They left New York and went to Canada during the Revolutionary War... There is to be a Meeting in Kingston, Ontario, August 19-22, 2004 Celebrating the Mother of Methodism In America, Barbara Ruckle Heck. It will be a Joint Meeting of the Canadian Methodist Historical Society (CMHS) and the Historical Society United Methodist Church (HSUMC). We are trying to organize a Ruckle/Ruckel/Ruttle Reunion to be held during that time. Carole Ruckle Richardson
