Talking about cemeteries reminded me that I wanted to ask if any of these Ruckle's in Davis, West Virginia and Thomas, West Virginia are familiar to anyone. Right before you go into Black Water Falls State Park there is a cemetery.  It is called Davis Cemetery. My sister Eleanor spotted two tombstones right along the road on the left are two tombstones.  One is for Leon "Punk" Ruckle b. June 19, 1912, d. Feb 7, 2002.  The other is his wife Ruth Lee Ruckle b. Oct 9, 1927, d. July 19, 1996. This obituary was on the internet: Leon G. Ruckle Leon George "Punk Ruckle, 89 of Davis, died Thursday, Feb. 7 2002, at his residence in Davis.  Mr. Ruckle was born june 19, 1912, in Dobbin, a son of the late Leon Monterville Ruckle and Amanda Kline Ruckle. He married Ruth Sponaugle Ruckle, who preceded him in death in 1996. Surviving are a son, Dale Ruckle and wife, Barbara, of Thomas; two daughters, Kathy Thomas and husband Ted, of Davis, and Donna Hufschmid and husband Gary, of Nessulbach, Switzerland; a sister, Doris Arnold, of Davis; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. Mr. Ruckle was a member of St. johns Lutheran Church of Davis.  he was a member of the FOE 936 of Davis and he Alpine Post of the VFW 8367 and the CCC. Funeral Arrangements:  Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral home Saturday from 2 pm to 9 pm.  Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Sunday at 1 pm with the Rev. J.J. Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in Davis Cemetery, 8 Feb. 2002 We got out of the car and took pictures of the tombstones and then searched through the cemetery and found tombstones for the parents of Leon "Punk" Ruckle, Leon M. Ruckel b. 1880 and d. 1920 and his wife born 1893 and d. 1949 Aslo in the cemetery was Netti Ruckel, 1917-1992 (she was probably one of Leon "Punk" Ruckle's sisters) On the other side of the road was a cemetery with two more Ruckles.  (I couldn't make out the first name on the tombstone picture) but the second name was Marshall Ruckle born 1932 and died 1994 and Geraldine Ruckle his wife. Does anyone have any idea who these Ruckles are?  I thought maybe there could be a chance that they are  descended from the Western Maryland Ruckles. But when I emailed Beverly Raley she said she didn't know who they were. Who knows maybe there is someone on the list that is from that area of West Virginia and might be able to tell me something about the family. I found an email for Kathy Thomas on the internet but when I wrote her an email it came back as unknown. I have a small biography for her that I copied from the internet: Kathy Ruckle Thomas: I have worked at the National Bank of Davis since 1973. Married Gary I. Thomas in 1978 and have one son Kristian who was born in 1979. Just received an associates degree from Potomac State College in Accounting. Better late thannever I guess. I love to cook, enjoy quilting and reading. like talking to old friends so lets keep in touch.
