I wonder if you could check this book for any reference to the following: Was a Jacob Switzer married to a Mary Ruckle circa 1808 ? (Jacob Switzer was father to 10 boys but was, as I suspect, his wife Mary RUCKLE?) It would be great if you could clear this up or just add more weight to my hunch. It's sometimes difficult to sort out the early Palatines because they kept recycling the same names. There was indeed a marriage between Mary Ruckle and Jacob Switzer. She was born abt 1781, the daughter of Daniel who was the son of Sebastian. A later Daniel, son of George of Adare, had a daughter Catherine who married John Switzer. That marriage took place in Ontario, Canada after Catherine's first husband, John Empey, died in 1857. Catherine and John Switzer went on to have ten children. As far as the wife of Johann Christopher Schweitzer goes, Henry Z. Jones in "The Palatine Families of Ireland" gives her name as Catherine Elizabeth, but doesn't supply a surname. This is the first I've heard that she might have been a Ruckle, but if so, her father was probably Caspar. None of these folks are mentioned in Ann Brandt's book which deals only with Ruckle families who lived in the United States......Karen
