    3. Susan, Sorry, I had posted this reply to your personal e-mail rather than the list! I don't know if this is any help in your research or if you already know this but the following information was included recently in posts on other lists: There's a recent book by Dr. Patrick J. O'Connor about the Palatines in Ireland titled "People Make Places". The book notes eight hundred and twenty-one families with more than 3,000 people came to Ireland in 1709 and by 1720 only 162 families remained. 103 of those families were settled on the Southwell Estate in Limerick, and 35 on the Abel Ramm estate in Co. Wexford, with smaller groups in Co. Cork and in Dublin. In addition, some Palatine families also settled in the Ballyseedy/Ballymacelligott area of Kerry. They had been invited by the Blennerhassetts, a very prominent family there. Some of the surnames include Poff, Groves, Hoffman, Glazier, Switzer, and Fitzell. Palatine families married into the Blennerhassett families) also. I don't have any detail on any of the families. In addition, when I was researching the Embury-Wilson Land Patent in upstate New York State I also found a reference to at least one family going from Tipperary. I didn't copy the detail but just remember the county reference because it wasn't one of the more common locations referenced in Ireland. There's a very high likelihood the Empey surname could have been Anglicized wherever they settled which also adds to the research challenge.
