Hi Liz, I get gathered into these emails because of an article we had in our magazine on the Palatines in Ireland. The centre in Rathkeale are the best place to start for info on Irish Palatines. Unfortunately, our website is sick at the moment, but keep checking as there is an abbreviated version of the article we published in 2004 which may be of interest to you. Have no Palatine links myself, but 'stepped out'with a Fitzelle in the 70s!! Does that count?? best Letitia Pollard Editor, Ireland of the Welcomes Failte Ireland, Baggot Street Bridge, Dublin 2, Ireland tel: (01) 6024397 fax: (01) 6024335 NOTE - I have a new email address, as set out below, please update your address book, thank you! letitia.pollard@failteireland.ie visit our website: www.irelandofthewelcomes.com -----Original Message----- From: LizHaren@aol.com [mailto:LizHaren@aol.com] Sent: 08 February 2005 17:43 To: IRL-PALATINE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [IP] Newcomer in Ireland Hiya Helen! Welcome to the IP list. It takes time to wake us up here, we're a bit like Brigadoon sometimes. Once you get everyone going they chat away, however. I do not have any Hesse in my lines and can't help you with yours, but there are individuals on this list who are fairly well versed in the Palatine's unique history in Ireland who can probably help you. What do you know about your Hesse line so far? My Palatine family name was Neazor (or neiser or naysor etc etc). There are no Neazor's left in Ireland that I am aware of! They settled around Rathkeale to the best of my knowledge and my ancestor came to NYC in the middle of the 1800's. I'm having trouble getting any further back on him, but I hold out hope. If you have any specific questions fire away. There are some pretty knowledgeable people on this list! Have fun! Letitia, "Stepping out" with on of our clan certainly takes courage. I gues that makes you an honorary member.
