They settled around Rathkeale to the best of my knowledge and my ancestor came to NYC in the middle of the 1800's. I'm having trouble getting any further back on him, but I hold out hope. > > If you have any specific questions fire away. Hi Macha, I am very interested in learning about the Miller family in Ireland, but cannot contribute anything at this time because we are absolutely stuck at 1788 in Pennsylvania and cannot go back any further. My Miller connection is Elizabeth Catherine Miller born Sept. 2,1788. She married Jacob Meyer/Mayer in 1808 in Bern Township, Berks County, PA. They had 11 children, and we have found most of the descendants -- none of us can go back any further. My mother always told me we have Irish ancestors and my cousin's mother always told her we have Irish ancestors. Since we can find no Irish names, I was about to give up on finding anyone Irish, until I was in Ireland three years ago. I was browsing in a shop in Westport at lunch time and the shop owner's friends came in and started chatting. They sounded just like my mother !!! -- not their accent -- but their vernacular was like hers. I knew I had to keep looking, and was very excited to learn about the Palatines. In addition to the Miller family, my other possible Palatine ancestors are Baker/Becker and Rufenacht. Please keep me on your Miller list. Maybe someone, somewhere will have a connection. Thanks.
