Hi List Well that suggestion woke everybody up, didn't it. And thanks to Susan for her offer to chair the committee. What's going on, Terry? 13 June is my daughter, Helen's, birthday and 11 June is mine! June is a great idea, probably the best month of the year in the British Isles. And Burgomeister? My IP ancestor Johan Adam was the second son of the Burgomeister of Fellbach. I need to lie down!! Ireland is a brilliant suggestion and one thing Ireland is not short of is for somewhere to stay. If everyone agrees on Ireland and the County Limerick area we ought to rope the IP Association in on it and Ken's offer to assist is grand. A little surprising, however, as I spoke to a committee member at the Association a few weeks ago who told me that there were no plans to mark the 300 year event. I hope that the Association would not feel that any initiative that this list takes would not be "treading on their toes" especially if it were in their back yard. Certainly, if we are planning to do something it ought to be in conjunction with the IPA. I am a member and although not on the committee would be happy to represent the IP list, under the direction of it's members, at any preliminary joint discussions that we all might consider useful. What do you think, Ken and chairman Susan? The IPA is a very worthwhile organisation and I recommend anyone on the List to join. They have done more than anyone to raise the level of awareness in the area of our IP heritage do a lot of useful and interesting things but, unless you are a member, you don't find out about them. In the meantime, why doesn't everyone on the list start now to prepare a list of names and addresses of everyone (living) on their databases in preparation of an initial "mailshot" to all known descendants. It could also form the basis of sponsorship/discount requests to bodies such as the Irish Tourist Board, Aer Lingus etc. Note to the treasurer: Please send me $5000 dollars to fund a fact finding mission.
