    2. This was a small printed pamphlet titled "The Ruckle-Switzer FOURTH Annual Reunion Picnic Held at Springbank Park, London, Ont., August the Twentieth 1925" and then "A Brief Sketch of the Histories of the two Families". prepared by J. Holmes. J. Holmes was a descendant of Daniel Switzer and Ann Readie. Daniel died in Ireland but Ann came to CAnada and lived with her son John in Dereham Township, Oxford County. Daniel's sister, Ann, married Daniel Ruckle and they also lived in Dereham Township. Daniel's son John married Catherine, daughter of DAnuel Ruckle and Ann Switzer. Mary

    3. I need Roberta's email.. I have to ask her about something, In the children of Henry and Elizabeth, she states that Richard married Mary Long, and further in the information she has Joseph Marrying Mary Long, I don't have Joseph even being down here as a child. Can she or anyone clarify this? I am getting down to that family and don't know if it is Richard or Joseph who married this woman. Judy CHILDREN OF HENRY & ELIZABETH: Henry, Peter, Dora, Richard, Mary Anne, (Joseph) Not mentioned below., John. 3. Hi Bob, According to my records from Royal, Adam fitzelle who married Anne, had three sons, Adam, John and Peter. John appears to be the father/gr. father of Margaret, as he said some relationships betwen the 2nd and 3rd generations haven't been clearly established. Margaret who married William "Peter" Sparling appears to be in this line, she came to Camden Valley N.Y. & then N. Sydney. N.S. I have this information on the keepsakebook site. www.geocities.com/keepsakebook/fitzelle.html Hope this helps Judy

    3. There are very few Irish Palatine records prior to 1740. I believe that Hank Jones commented that many were destroyed (in a fire?) at that time. I know that for my family, there are no records that I have found that make a clear connection between the immigrants and the first Ireland-born generation. There is an intersting Margaret Fizzell of that generation who married a Peter Sparling and went with the New York migration in 1760. I have no information on her parents or siblings. My ancestor was called "Adam ye Younger," which makes one suspect that he is the son of Johann Adam, but no records have been found to support that. There were 2 other Fizzell (Fischel) brothers among the immigrants. 3. My cousin Tom Livingston lives in Consecon and across the street from him is an original Detlor landholding and original house - with it's own graveyard of Detlor family members. There are very few headstones, just a bunch of gopher holes, etc. but I have a hunch the two girls were buried there and not in the public graveyard with the rest of the young ones who perished. I did read somewhere that the graves of these two could never be found so that is why I'm passing this on in case it is relative some day. By the way, Happy Easter. Regards, Marilyn A. Her parentage has not been confirmed in a primary source to my knowledge, but she was of the right time and place, and no other parents have been proposed that would fit better with her scant details. As I vaguely recall there was also an explanation for how it was reasonable that there was no record for her (incomplete church records or whatever, I can't recall now). It's up to viewers what they make of it and how much they rely on it. All should be wary of accepting second or third hand information, but it might give a lead. 3. As well as Wes Switzer in his genealogy "Switzer all My Fathers Were" showing Johann Christopher and Catherine to have eight children, Eula Lapp in her book "To Their Heirs Forever" lists the following: "Family changes - marriages, deaths or removals - altered the complexion of the community on the Southwell Estate greatly in the 1740's and 50's. In the Switzer family of Courmatrix, for instance, the father, Christopher, who had come from the Rhineland, died in 1755. In this family were four boys, followed by four girls. Of the girls, only Margaret (later Mrs. Philip Embury) lived to maturity. In 1750, her three-year-old sister, Christine, had died. In 1755, the year of the father's passing, this family lost another small daughter, aged about six. The first girl - also named Margaret - had been buried early in 1743, the same year that the second Margaret was born. Following these tragedies, Margaret Switzer must have been especially dear to her mother and brothers, Tobias, John, Martin and Peter - the latter most important to our story. (Mrs. Switzer had been Catherine Ruckle.)" The above does not prove that there wasn't a child born earlier, but it would seem that Eula Lapp, during her 12 years plus of research for her book, obviously did not find anything leading to a daughter Julianna/Joanna. Cheers, Bob
