Hi Gary, Will you please tell me where the house is in Courtmatrix? I will be in that area next week and happy to take a peek! My offer to help with restoration stands! Beverly Railey Walter Oakmont PA (Ruckle, Stark descendant through folks who moved to western Maryland after arriving in New York in 1822.)
Dear Gary Great to hear from you. When and if I get the cash together to fly to Ireland from 'The Last Best West" aka Calgary, Alberta, I will certainly make a point of visiting. Congratulations and may you enjoy it in good health. Gary, Thank you for buying the old 1709 House! I am a descendant of J. Martin Bender who (apparently) was in the Palatine group who came ( 1709) to England from Switzerland (German Swiss). J. Martin Bender arrived in North Carolina either with the 1709 group, or he stayed a while in England , arriving in North Carolina by 1725. He may have married a Simmons/Simons girl( in England or in North Carolina). John Simmons Sr. son of Benedict Simons was connected to my J. Martin Bender in Craven Co. North Carolina (near New Bern. N. C. ). Please keep me up-dated on the house and all the work that you are doing on it. Thank you. Verena Bender Hekman (In Tucson, AZ) e mail Omahekman@aol.com
Hi Gary I think that it is wonderful that you are planning to renovate and live in Christopher Switzer's house. I passed by the house in June and Austin Bovenizer told me that someone had bought it. I am descended from Michael, Johann Christopher's brother. My very best wishes in your project and I would love to receive pictures. Mary Wallace

Patrick J. O'Connor's book "People Make Places" makes reference to all your three names on pages 147 and 158 including some biographical notes. Good Luck, Reg Shier
Did you look for them in People Make Places by Patrick OF Connor? Not sure if they are in there. I think I have run across all of those names somewhere? Hi List. Looking for any information on John 1801, Joseph 1810 and Henry Young 1815 that came to Canada in the 1830's born in Kilcooly Tipperary. Im told they were Palatine's as they married into the Sparling family and when in Canada married into Miller's and Glazier's. Not much is known about these brothers when in Ireland, but I have much family history on them after their arrival in Canada. Because of the 5 year difference between each brother, I'm assuming that there were other brothers and or sisters within this family. Any information would be appreciated. That is a wonderful article. I plan to subscribe to the magazine and hope to buy the back issue. My travel agent brought it to my attention, as I plan to be in Ireland August 10-19 and descend from Ruckle (many spellings) and Stark lines. Thank you for that great educational piece. I loved the drawing and photographs. Beverly Railey Walter Oakmont PA and Morgantown WV
Hi Margot I am sure many of John Switzer and Agnes Corneille's descendants will be attending the reunion - I believe it is members of this family who organize it. John Switzer was a brother of my gt gt grandfather Christopher Switzer who married Sarah Miller and settled just outside of Ottawa. I am not going to the reunion but had a request from a girl in Ireland for an email address for someone who would be there. Cheers Mary Wallace
Thanks anyway Mary
