    2. Gary - We plan to go to Ireland in a year or so and would love to see the house in person! Meanwhile, we'd also like to see some photos. Good luck with your restoration! I descend from an Irish Palatine family (Doupe). Some of our family married Switzers - so, there is a connection there somewhere! Jim Hamilton

    3. Dear Judy, I am researching my family. The surname is PATT. I got back to John Patt, born 1804, married Ellen Fitzgerald, born 1802. Someone told me the name might be Palatine. Also there might be a marriage between a PATT and a MICK. Do you have any information in your files. Thank you and God bless, Bob Pattwell (P.S. It is an interesting story how my name became PATTwell.) 3. Hi Mary, In response to your question, I will try to tell you where I fit in with the Switzers as I understand it. My great grandfather was a man named Robert Doupe who married Ellen Shier. Ellen Shier < Adam Shier - Charlotte Switzer Charlotte Switzer < Edward Switzer - Sarah Shier Edward Switzer < Adam Switzer - Sarah Switzer (no further info on Sarah) Adam Switzer < Michael Switzer - Ann Shier (Michael is not the 1709 guy) Michael Switzer < Martin Switzer - Mary Elizabeth Switzer (no further info on Mary Elizabeth) Martin Switzer < Michael Schweitzer - Dorothea Schweitzer (Michael is the 1709 guy) Michael Schweitzer < Johann Jacob Schweitzer, Jr. - Anna Maria Schweitzer Johann Jacob Schweitzer, Jr. < Johann Jacob Schweitzer - Elesabeth Kesselring Johann Jacob Schweitzer < Hans Jacob Schweitzer The above is the story as I understand it, always subject to update of course. BTW, the Sarah Shier who married Edward Switzer was descended from Dolmages. I notice Dolmage in your e-mail address. 2. Becky, People doing genealogy and family history are so nice. Isn't it great that we can all correspond this way, technology is wonderful. I have seen pictures of your ancestors (Elizabeth Ruttle and Ralph Sheppard's) tombstones. It is thrilling to have had ancestors born at Ruckle Hill/Fort View. My ancestor John Ruckle was born there too but that was in 1722. His son Thomas Ruckle was born in Ireland in 1776 and then he migrated to Baltimore, MD, USA in 1790. My friend Beverly Walter left Tuesday for a trip to Ireland. She hopes to meet Walter Ruttle and be able to go to the Heck-Embury Church. I told her to ask directions to his house and just go knock on the door. He would probably be glad to show her around. I hope she has a great time, I know she sure was excited. She too is an descendant of the Casper and Sebastian Ruckel. I hope to go to Ireland too one day...maybe in 2009. I don't know how far you live from Kingston, Ontario, Canada but I hope you are able to attend our RRR meetings. The main one will be on Saturday, August 21 between 1:00 PM and 5 PM the one on Thursday, Aug., 19 will be between 1:30 PM and 5:30 PM. Hope to meet you there, Carole

    3. In addition to the soon to be open Switzer house, there is an existing Palatine cottage available for travelers. It is the home of the Piper family in Killeheen and is owned and operated by Austin Bovenizer, who lives across the road and who keeps the Irish Palatine Association moving along. My stay there was quite enjoyable and meaningful, as my g-g-g-g-grandmother called this cottage her home. 3. Hi, Can anyone who is descended from the Switzer Irish Palatines tell me if Matheis Switzer who came to America, Phila., Pa. in 1727 and settled in Chester co.,Coventry township, Pennsylvania is related to the IP Switzer's? They were leaders in the Church of the Brethern. They actually came from Schwitz, Switzerland originally. Because of their religious beliefs they traveled to other more friendly countries prior to their arrival in America. I am just wondering if they perhaps were at one time in Ireland along with the IP Switzer families. Thank You Much, Pat S. Uffenorde
