    3. Sorry Donna, I checked and can't see Hollinger. I also checked a list of " 213 Palatine Families in Ireland, 13 July 1715 ", and couldn't find anything close. Of course, I have taken my information from a book about those who emigrated to Ontario, so it is possible the transcribing doesn't cover all names. Just wondering, Margot, if your list of "Palatine Families in Ireland at a Muster Taken for Six Months Ending the 29th Sep 1720 at Ballingarran, Killaheen, Castle-Mattress and Court-Matress in the County of Limerick" might include the name HANSBURGH (or anything resembling it!). They have to be part of my family somehow. Do you know if that means they were living at Castle Matress and Court-Matress at that time? And isn't that right outside Rathkeale? 2. I'm going to finally break down and try to find my Neazer in Ireland. I thought I might try the Church Records for Rathkeale since its a pretty good shot that he came from that area. Does anyone know the film name/number from the FHC that would have these records? I found one on line and it was "Church of Ireland, Parish Church of Rathkeale", film no. 897365. Would that be where the Palatines would have been baptized? Any advice would be great! Thanks! Liz

    3. I like Chris's idea of a register of Irish Palatine family "specialists" (rather than "experts", for I don't think many of us could claim that title). Perhaps a simple medium for recording such a register would be a page on the Irish Palatine Association website, www.erin.ie/ipa The site already has a number of links to Palatine name websites, and I would like to expand the number of links. It would be good to also provide e-mail addresses for any specific family "specialists" who would be happy to be contacted. I worry a little about how fully or promptly I and others are able to respond to questions, so some sort of "disclaimer" may be appropriate - perhaps along the lines: All of these specialists are unpaid volunteers. The time and resources available to them for answering questions will vary. They will endeavour to give a prompt initial response, and where appropriate will indicate how soon and how fully they may be able to give a more considered reply. I have responsibility for moving the IPA website forward, and I expect to announce the implementation of some other improvements to the site soon. If anyone would like to be included on the IPA website in a list of such specialists, could you please drop me a note with your name, e-mail address, specialist family, subject or subjects, and perhaps a few words about the scope of your personal interest. My own entry might read: Teskey - Ken McDonald, [email protected], all references world-wide, family newsletter and reunions. I would be pleased to add links on the IPA website to further family websites, so please drop me a note if you have one or know of one. 3. Hi List >From time to time I get e-mails from people who have picked up my name from various sources enquiring about people that I have on my Family Tree, but not necessarily from families that I am particularly researching. For instance, I have a number of IP names occurring in my Tree that I have very little family detail about and consequently would like to refer them to a "Family Expert" where there might be useful mutual contact. Would it not be a good idea to compile an Irish Palatine "roll-call" where the Name being researched and the details (email address etc) of the "main researcher(s)" could be easily accessible to the List members?? Over to you Susan!! Best wishes over the Easter Period to all. Chris Le Gear

Martin's eldest son was named Martin Jr. Martin "Fitz Christopher" Switzer was also called Martin "ye younger". He was a son of Johann Christopher Schweitzer, original immigrant to Ireland in 1709 and a younger brother of the Michael Schweitzer above. This Martin d. 1796 and married Anna Barbara Legier in 1744 and married (2) Catherine Kennedy in 1788. The two "Fitzes" were first cousins so the Fitz would have been used to identify which was which. -----Original Message----- From: JMcIntyre <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Sunday, April 08, 2001 4:18 PM Subject: Re: [IP] Palatine manuscript >I hope the answer to this will be posted to the list. 3. Here goes: Di's assumption is correct, good on ya Di! Fitz(fits), n , a son. The form occurs now only as a prefix in certain names, as Fitzgerald (son of Gerald), some of which were first given to illegitamate royal children, as Henry Fitzroy (son of the king).
