    3. Carole, I was serious about that smile :>).... No offense taken. I will now spend the rest of my evening fitting your facts and tidbits into my little family tree. I seem to have aquired yet another Phillip Dulmage. You have been most helpful. Its fascinating how many times these families circle back and inter-marry. Thank you so much for your time. 3. Hi, Mary - If you open the web site in your browser window, you should then be able to save that page without trying to open it in any other program. With the desired page open, click on the word "File" and then "Save As". That will allow you to save the image in a folder of your choosing. Another possibility is to do a "copy" of the information on the page and then "paste" it into a Notepad document. Good luck! Susan At 05:03 PM 8/21/01 -0700, you wrote: >Hello to all.... 3. Hello My Friends, This list makes it feel as if we are all dear old friends. I would like to add my warm welcome to Cyndi, Connie and Armand. I haven't had much input, but have received heaps of help and information from list members, and I suspect you will too. My line is the CORNEILLE line but only through my maternal gggrandmother. She married a SMITH of all things. It actually took this list to help me sort out where she came from. My John Corneille SMITH came to Victoria, Australia, after first heading to the U.S.A. to fight in the Civil War. I assume he had relatives there, but have not been able to trace his movements, as most records I've looked at don't include the middle name. (Brick wall number 1013, LOL) I think a web site linked to the list would be great, we have one on the Aussie-Gen-Research list and it is a great help with links etc. That was set up by a volunteer list member on rootsweb and seems well patronised. Unless I win the lottery, I don't think I'll be at the 2009 reunion, but my thoughts and best wishes will be with everyone there. Keep up the good work and the friendly atmosphere of this list, it is wonderful. Cheers Jacqui Cunningham Central Victoria http://www.oldnewscopy.com "It's Old News!"

    1. Re: [IP] Fraser asked ..Dulmage/Ruckle
    2. Connie, I am a Ruckle descendant and the Ruckle/Ruckel/Ruttle line has been traced back to Casper Ruckel born 1660 in Germany... Your ancestor Margrath Ruckel Embury and my ancestor Sebastian Ruckel were brother and sister...their father's name was Casper Ruckel.. The house in Ireland where Sebastian Ruckel migrated with his father Casper Ruckel and their families is still standing and still lived in by Ruttles.(the Irish spelling).. The Embury's lived within sight of the Ruckels in Limerick..The Embury homeplace is in ruins...but there is a nice plaque on the grounds... I am in the process of looking for a needle in a haystack in the German Church records.."Casper Ruckel"...I have spent the last year searching and hopefully someday he will be found... My line goes from Casper Ruckel, Sebastian Ruckel, John Ruckle, Thomas Ruckle, William Hogarth Ruckle, Thomas Jefferson Ruckle, George Lee Ruckle, Homer Clay Ruckle, Everett Britton Ruckle, to myself Carole Elaine Ruckle Richardson. My Ruckle line migrated to Baltimore, Maryland in the early 1790's from Ireland...at least that is the first trace we found of them in Maryland...I still live in Baltimore, Maryland.... I have other info to share if you are interested in Ruckle history, but I don't know much about the Dulmage line... Carole

    1. [IP] Re: CORNEIL ad inf.
    2. Jacqui Another thought. You seemed a bit piqued by the name SMITH being in your tree. There is, of course, a strong possibility that this too is of Palatine origin. There were stacks of them queuing for tickets in Rotterdam in 1709 (Schmidt, Smit, etc). As you will see, your Corneils pre-date the famous '09 emigration, since they were already tending their plots in Killeheen 30 years before our laggards turned up. This gives weight to the widely-held belief that CORNEIL was of Huguenot extraction. But religion seems not to have hampered the warmest relations with the late arrivals. You will note, for instance, on p. 3 of that gigantic Uregina tome that a John Piper carted off an Elizabeth C in 1783 (incidentally, John was the elder brother of my direct ancestor Jacob/James Piper. I have still to find the maiden name of Jacob's wife Elizabeth, if anyone can help there. Even the marvellous Mary Wallace doesn't know that one). Now, Liz: As David Henry Thoreau said: don't you ever go to bed? LOL (that's mine). Terry

    3. Terry, I checked out the Corneil site and sure enough, it says that Adam Cornelius was born in Limerick circa 1680, but I wonder......... I notice that all the dates given before 1742 are "circa". Is there any documentation that the family was there that early? Hank Jones says they were part of the 1709 group. I've run into the situation before where people presume that a family has always lived in the same local and make an "educated guess" as to birthplace. The 'World Family Tree' has supplied a lot of misinformed birth dates with its extrapolations too. I raise the red flag only because I labored for years under the mistaken impression (my own) that my direct ancestors had arrived in America on the same ship with Barbara Ruckle Heck. I felt really dumb when it first occurred to me that they may not have arrived much before the earliest records I could find dated 1822. I hope this warning saves someone from trying to climb "stone walls" that don't really exist, or better yet, that the descendants of Adam Cornelius find all the documentation they could ever ask for going back a thousand years.............Karen Opgenorth

    1. [IP] CORNEIL family ad infinitum
    2. Jacqui I can point you to a site for the CORNELIUS family that would give you the perfect excuse to abandon any further thought of genealogical research. It is IMMENSE and offers you a 62-page forensic breakdown of the family tree from 1680 to the present day. How dreary. I would cry if I were offered the same thing for my ancestral roots. There would be no reason to live any more. So don't look at: http://uregina.ca/southamn/corne001.htm Do note that there is no "www." I first hit this site in February but had problems this morning when I checked it out. A rather crusty message from the University of Regina said no search facility was available. So I went to www.google.com, asked for "Corneil Family Report" and up it came. If you're really feeling laid back about it all, they also offer you a million-page name index. Sickening. It must be about midnight in Owstrilier now - so if you're at the keyboard, give it a slam. I'll bet even YOU are in there. This sort of thing brings the genealogy game into bad odour. Have fun with it, Jacqui, then send your surfboard back to Bondi. Affectionately Terry

    3. Since Fraser was so kind to inquire: According to what I've gleaned so far (and certainly subject to correction) Margaret Embury (Sister of the famous Philip Embury) was the daughter of Andreas Imberger & Margarath Roeckel. She married Jacob Dulmage son of Gerhardt Dolmetsch and wife Ellenor ??? >From there... Through David, Edward, Benjamin, Henrietta "Myra" (Great-Grandmother...A colorful and interesting woman for her day). Henrietta married Michael Deasy (Irish without the Palatine) and had Robert whose son Dale is my father. Benjamin and his family left Ontario and settled in the Idaho panhandle. I was born across the border at Clarkston Washington and find myself currently residing a few hundred miles away in the center of the state in a small town called Wilson Creek (Pop. 237). So Fraser are you a long-lost cousin of distant or close relation? Curious, Connie >Hi Connie, >Where do you fit in on the Dulmage and Ruckle lines? >Where so you live? >Regards, >Fraser Carr
