    3. Hi Margot and Rod, Rod's ancestor John Switzer was likely a brother of my ancestor Ann Switzer - both children of Adam SWITZER and Barbara DOLMAGE. My question to Margot is, does the "History of the Switzers ..." refer to John's parents or siblings? To Rod, do you have any details on what happened to John's siblings? 3. To Rod Switzer, Have you seen the "History of the Switzers from Before 1700" compiled in 1928 by Agnes Ann Armstrong (Mrs. Alex Ross), daughter of Agnes Lucy Switzer. It is LDS film # 1321067, item 30, and gives a little description of John Switzer's life in Blanshard Township, Perth County, Ontario. Agnes Lucy Switzer was a daughter of John Switzer and Agnes Corneille, sister, I believe, to your William b. 1829. She married Thomas Armstrong, brother to my great-great grandfather Johnston Armstrong who was married to a daughter of Agnes Corneille's sister Mary Anne who married Christopher Sparling. (seems quite complicated when I try to write it down !) Anyway, this little "history" gives names of the children and grandchildren of John Switzer and Agnes Corneille, and who they married. If you haven't seen it, and are interested, I could mail you a photocopy if you want to contact me off list. 2. SOME MONUMENTAL INSCRIPTIONS AT NANTINAN, CO. LIMERICK These selective records of cemetery inscriptions were passed on to me by Barb Milburn - courtesy of a Switzer relative. In all, there are 10 pages, but since the vast majority are Irish names (O'Connor, Fitzgerald, etc), I have reproduced only the obvious (or apparent/possible) Palatine names. If anyone would genuinely like the full document I can snail it, no problem - but, to be fair, it would have to be a persuasive reason: i.e. non-Palatine ancestors. But again, no problem there. 3. Terry, I do apologize for my lapse of memory--I do not really recall Judy's solution--a sign of old age, I guess! :) :) Do you know what this was about and what her solution was, please? Thank you very much. 1. [IP] GROVES TRANSCRIPTS #T
    2. [#T: This is the letter from King George mentioned in the last despatch. George had succeeded Queen Anne the year before and this letter reflects the current position of the Palatines regarding the renewal of their leases. It was about this time (1715) that a muster was taken of the Palatine families in Ireland, which was reproduced in the very first transcript published through the List, as typed by Barb Milburn on 30 June 2000. Remember that this is the first indication, for genealogy researchers, of those German immigrants to London who had actually reached Ireland since 1709. Just as a reminder, if you are interested in retrieving those lists - many of them records of the names of immigrants at various musters and registrations up to (and even beyond) 1766, you should go to: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/irl-palatine and just look up the offerings for individual months] ***START HERE*** Entry Book of King's & Queen's Letters & Reports &c Vol 20 for 1714-1715 1E-2-11 in Rec Office Dublin, p 244 King's Letter 17 June 1715 (The original of which appears to be missing [TG]) GEORGE R. Right Trusty and Right well beloved cousin and Counsellor, We greet you well, Whereas The Commissioners of our Treasury have laid before us your Letter of 15th of January last, together with a Representation from the Commissioners for taking care of the Palatines in that our Kingdom, Whereby It appears That in the year 1709 our late Royal sister Queen Anne sent 821 families of Palatines into Ireland, for whose relief, she was pleased to allow £24000, which was all paid, except£720 that was stopt in the Treasury, for Poundage and Pells. That those Families, being in the year 1711 reduced to 312 our said Royal sister by her Warrant dated 28 March 1712 allowed 40s per annum for every family for 7 years certain, which amounts to £624 per annum. That the families are now reduced to 263, who are settled upon farms in Ireland; And the said Commissioners, having represented to you that it would be for the great benefit of the said poor Palatines and for our Service, That the surplus of the abovementioned annual sum of £624 be granted to the 263 families now being in Ireland, As likewise the abovenamed sum of £720 still in the Treasury for Poundage and Pells, the Officers of the Treasury being first re-imbursed Whereby the said Palatines may be enabled to maintain a Minister to read the Liturgy of the Church to them in their own tongue, and likewise an Agent that understands their language, and to support other contingent charges. WHICH, We, having taken into our Royal consideration, and being graciously pleased to condescend thereunto, Our Will and Pleasure is, and We do Hereby direct & command That you forthwith issue the necessary orders and directions to the Recievers and Receiver General of our Revenue in that our Kingdom, out of any Revenue or Treasure as is or shall be from time to time in his or their hands, to pay forthwith to such person or persons, as are or shall be appointed by the said Commissioners for the purposes aforesaid, So much as has been paid short of the said annual allowance of £624, and that the same be continued to be paid entire during the remainder of the said 7 years, Notwithstanding the clause in the aforesaid recited Warrant of our said Royal Sister, That the 40s p. ann. as to such families as should die or leave the Kingdom, should cease. And also to pay the further sum of £720 stopt for poundage and Pells as aforesaid, the Officers of the Treasury being first re-imbursed, as you have promised in your said Letter, For enabling the said Palatines to maintain a Minister to read the Liturgy of the Church to them in their own tongue, and likewise an Agent that understands their language, and to support other contingent charges And this shall be as well to you for so doing as to our Lieutenant Deputy or other Chief Governor or Governors of our said Kingdom for the time being, and also to the Commissioners of Accounts the Vice Treasurers, Recievers General, Barons of our Exchecquer, Auditor General, and all others herein concerned, a sufficient WARRANT, And so We bid you very heartily farewell Given at Our Court at St James's this 15th day of JUNE 1715 In the first year of our reign By His Majesty's Command Carlisle … Ri' d Onslow, Raw. Wortlay, Will St Qunitin. Entered at the signet office 16 Oct 1715 Will. Coole.
