    3. Hi! I am just beginning my search for family in Co. Monaghan. My 2X great grandmother, Mary McGinnis, was born in Co. Monaghan according to the baptismal record of her oldest child. US death records for Mary and her three sisters provide their father's name as either William or John McGinnis and their mother's name as Ann Kearns. Mary was born about 1838 in Ireland. She married John James O'Connell in New Orleans in 1859. Their first child, Susan Ann was born there in 1860. They moved to Mobile before October 1863 and their other three children were born there. Mary is buried in Mobile. Bridget Elizabeth was b abt 1841 in Ireland. She married first William Mullhall and second Martin D. Kenny. She also is buried in Mobile. Ellen was b abt 1843 in Ireland. She married Christopher Foley and is buried in Mobile. Rose was b abt 1848 or 1849. Most records indicate that she was born in the US. She married William R. Ward and is buried in Mobile. John/William, Ann, and their four daughters may have immigrated to New Orleans, LA. I have not found the record. Denise
