Many of us know of the Find A Grave website: http://www.findagrave.com/index.html. For those on this list who are not yet familiar with it, it's a site that allows anyone to post detailed gravesite info with photos. It's hugely successful, with 150,000 users/day accessing a database of 97,000,000 graves, mostly in the US. In IE, particularly in Monaghan, not so much. If volunteers in Ireland started posting more graves, it would be a tremendous help to family researchers with Irish ancestry everywhere. Posting your family members' graves could start a wave of postings to this very helpful resource. It's really pretty easy. For Ireland research, click on "Search 97 million grave records" in the above link, then enter at least a last name and select Ireland from the country list, along with birth and death year parameters if desired. While counties Dublin & Louth seem to have a lot of postings, Monaghan does not. Here are a few of the Monaghan cemeteries represented-- St. Mary's Church and Cemetery (only 34 graves): http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GScid=2305599 Broomfield Old Cemetery (only 9 graves): http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GScid=2226961 Tedavnet Cemetery (only 5 graves): http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GScid=2483415 St. McCartin's Cathedral Cemetery (only 6 graves): http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GScid=2467361 So take a look, Monaghan list members who are not yet familiar with the site--try posting a handful of graves with photos of the markers. Many are drawn into the process, knowing all the good it does and end up posting hundreds or thousands. These death records that are carved in stone are the most reliable! Peter Trainer
