Julie: You can learn about the civil records by going to the General Registry Office Web site, groireland.ie. Civil registration of births, deaths, and marriages began in 1864 (Protestant marriages earlier). If you have a pretty good idea when an event occurred, you can look it up in the indexes (the LDS have filmed them all), then ask the GRO for a photocopy of the complete registration. Or for a little more money, you can ask them to find the event in the indexes, too. You can download the forms off the Web site and mail them in. It usually takes only a couple of weeks. Diane
