    1. [IRL-MONAGHAN] WOODS. MURPHY.DUFFY families in Co. Monaghan
    2. Thank you so much from all those on the list who responded to my queries re the families above. I realise that maybe I should give all the information I have in order to find my family. The information I have. 1901 Census. Peter Murphy b.1841 b. County Louth. Farmer Ellen Murphy (Duffy) wife. b.1845 b. County Monahan. Bridget Murphy daug. b.1877b. Co Monaghan Farmers daughter Annie Murphy daug. b.1879. Co Monaghan Dressmaking Kate Murphy daug b.1884. Co Monaghan Scholar Joseph Murphy son b 1880 Co Monaghan Farmers son Peter Murphy son b. 1881 Co Monaghan Farmers son. All Roman Catholics and could all read and write. One of the daughters I believe married a Mc Court, may have kept a bar in Dundalk? I was told that Peter and Ellen Murphy(duffy) had 13 children, I know that some of the sons emigrated to America, in the 1900`s. Bridget Murphy was my Grandmother, I have her death, I think 1930, buried in Inniskeen? She married Willie Woods, They lived at Drumnagrella, Inniskeen, where my Mother was born, Anne Jane Woods. Willie Woods is briefly mentioned in a book by Patrick Kavangh, `Piling up the Ricks`, The Kavanagh family lived next door Willie Woods, and his son (my Uncle John Woods.) I spent 3 months at Drumnagrella when I was 6 after my Mother died, I lived in England. I returned briefly in Dec 2006 and spent a few days with a cousin. There were graves in the cemetery at Inniskeen (now the Patrick Kavanagh Centre) Also a little Chapel dedicated to the Murphy/Woods family. I do not live in Ireland . Diane, thank you also for your help, you mention looking in the Civil Records, where do I find that please? Can anyone suggest an online site etc. where I can get further information? Thank you for all the WOODS responses! Hopefully we may tie up somehow. Best wishes Julie Perry (Woods)
