Hi All, I just posted this to the Fer-Gold List but thought I’d post it here too since there are quite a lot of references to Monaghan contained. For those of you who don’t know about this archive, you can search from 1859 right up to the present day. Link is here http://www.ireland.com/search/ It is quite costly at €10 (£7.70) for 24 hours access but I found it well worth it and the stories and info are a great resource, especially if you manage to find stories about your own family members and ancestors. I took out a subscription 2 weeks ago and have complied a name index to the news articles I got from there. My search was concentrated to the Roslea, Scotstown, Smithborough, Monaghan areas but I found when doing the database that I also had people from other areas, e.g. In death and obit articles. There are 1,583 entries from 207 articles. This is only the tip of the iceberg I’m sure, as to what stories can be obtained from there so you may want to look into this site further. Anyone wanting this database, email me directly at [email protected] (please mention Irish Times so I don’t get confused with the Tithe Applotments for Clones Parish which I’m also offering). Good Luck Claire McConville
