Edward McTavey, b. Co. Monaghan but village not known b. probably between 1790-1800 I have not yet learned the time of his immigration, but he was in Herkimer Co., NY by 1823 which is probably the year that he married Wife is Sarah Root, born in Canaan, Litchfield Co., Conn., the dau. of Elijah Root and Sarah Barnes. Sarah m. (1) Eli Newell, War of 1812 Veteran who died in 1818 I didn't have much time to research at Clones Library in Co. Monaghan two weeks ago. I think it possible that Edward was born in Castleblayney, but that is only a guess. I spoke with Brendan and Sean Tavey in C. blayney. Their grandfather took the Mc from his name. Are there any other McTaveys/Taveys out there from Co. Monaghan? Deanna
