I am seeking information on my Great Grandmother, Bridget Cassidy. She was transported to Van Diemens Land in 1849 and her convict records indicate she was 18 years old at the time and her fathers name was John. She was tried on 5 March 1849 at Monaghan and her native place was recorded as Co Monaghan. She was received at Grangegorman Depot for transportation on 14 Apr 1849 A search of the National Archives indexes shows the spelling of the name as Cassidey. A list of previous conviction indicate she lived for some time in Monaghan.
