    3. Re: GGrandfather John C. McCague. I'm told he was born in Derrilla, Tydavnet (or is it Tydevnet?), ---------------------------------- These McCagues were Catholics. If you look at the 1911 census for Cloghernagh in Monaghan you will find a Patrick McCague and a Rose McCague (brother and sister) who match your information. Patrick age 52 and Rose age 54. Cloghernagh is very, very close to Derrilla...the adjacent townland. So across the fields. This Patrick said he was married eight years, so about 1902-1903 and his wife was Annie. So look in the marriage indices for Patrick McCague married in 1902-1903 and see if you can get a better fix on the marriage date. With that information, or even without it, send to Roscommon asking for a corresponding marriage cert. That way you will have the name of this Patrick's father who is likely your John. There were no McCagues in Derrilla in 1862, but there was a Michael and an Owen in Cloghernagh. A good bet is that the family spread into both townlands, and that Michael or Owen was the father of your John. Good luck. James
