A year or so ago I tried to track down some marriages for male Johnston relatives in Co. Monaghan. By the 1860s they were Catholic, but they'd reportedly been Protestant earlier, so I ordered pre-1864 marriages as well as post- for Johnstons with given names that ran in the family--John, James, Edward, and Henry. I have a total of 29, mostly from Castleblaney district, a few each from Bailieborough, Dundalk, Cootehill, and one each Cavan, Clones, and Carrickmacross. The years span 1845 through 1879. They didn't turn out to be mine, but if these names and places match up with anyone's ancestors, I'd be happy to check the registrations I have so they don't go to waste. It's an ill wind that blows no good! Diane
