    1. [IRL-MONAGHAN] New additions in IGP Archives

    3. Thanks to Jack Storey, we have some new headstone photos for Monaghan. New additions: Glennan Presbyterian Church Graveyard Drumsnat Church Graveyard Clogh Parish Headstones, border of Fermanagh & Monaghan --more headstones added. Note that Oscar Wilde's half sisters are buried at Drumsnat. Jack took a photo of their headstone. They have a new headstone next to the old illegible one. Jack tells me that the girls died after attending a Social Evening at nearby Drummaconnor House, where their crinoline dresses had caught fire. "Every year, on the anniversary of their deaths, a lady, always dressed in black, came by train to Monaghan Town to visit their grave. We have recently found that this lady was, in fact, the girls' mother, Mary Josephine Travers. The Wilde Family, now living in England, contributed to the cost of the new Wilde Headstone, erected beside the old illegible one." To check out the new headstones - go to http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/index.htm Click on MONAGHAN from the table of counties and then Headstones. Thanks to Jack for taking these photos to share! As always, we need transcribers who can donate maybe an hour to transcribe one of these sets of headstones. This helps our search engine find the names. Christina [email protected]
